At Juniper, we recognise that food is an important part of each residents' life and contributes to their sense of wellbeing and comfort.

We now have an opportunity available for an experienced Cook to work every second weekend at our Aged Care facility located in Northam. This person will also be required to work shifts during the week as a Kitchenhand, totalling 45 hours per fortnight.

As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing high quality, nutritious meals to meet our residents’ special dietary requirements. You will also make sure that the quality of meals is maintained to a high standard and that a safe food service is provided. Working as a kitchenhand during the week, you will assist in the kitchen as required. This may include serving food to residents, cleaning, setting tables and washing dishes.

Key Responsibilities of this role:

  • Preparing and cooking high quality, nourishing meals for our residents
  • Monitoring all practices within the catering centre to ensure safe food handling and infection control procedures are being adhered to
  • Ensure all areas of the kitchen are cleaned to the highest standards
  • Assisting in all areas of the kitchen as required. Including serving food and cleaning.
  • Compliancy with Juniper’s Occupational, Safety and Health requirements

The Skills, Knowledge and Experience required:

  • Trade certification or experience in a commercial cooking environment and/or aged care catering is required
  • Basic knowledge of dietary nutrition for the aged is preferred
  • Ability to manage bulk ordering, purchasing, and stock control of food
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Empathy for elderly residents
