We are currently seeking to appoint a suitably experienced Occupational Therapist to join our Allied Health team, based at our Day Therapy Centre in Dianella. The Occupational Therapist will assist in meeting the care needs of Juniper Community clients who reside in the northern suburbs and are eligible to access the Day Therapy program. 

 

In this position, you will be responsible for providing Occupational Therapy assessment, treatment, care and advice to our clients. The overall aim is to enhance or maintain the quality of life of our clients in the community.

 

On offer for the successful candidate is a permanent part time role, 20 hours per fortnight supported by a dedicated allied health and clinical team. Hours are anticipated to be Tuesday and Thursday 9.30am – 2.30pm.  

 

Key Responsibilities of this role:

  • Assess clients to determine Occupational Therapy needs.
  • Develop, implement, review and evaluate care plans that support the maintenance or restoration of our Clients’ independence.
  • Supervising of Therapy Assistants.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with Clients, colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Maintain records, information and complete documentation in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational, Safety and Health requirements including appropriate Injury Risk Management.

The Skills, Knowledge and Experience required:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science Occupational Therapy.
  • Current registration with the Occupational Therapists’ Registration Board of Australia.
  • Knowledge of community based programs and a flexible approach to work.
  • Ability to relate to elderly clients with empathy whilst working effectively with other health professionals and service providers.
  • Demonstrated success working in an aged care setting including experience in home assessment and equipment prescription.
  • Experience in the development and delivery of therapy based programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including experience supervising staff.
