Therapy Assistants help improve the quality of life for every individual accessing aged care services with Juniper. They listen, care, engage with and enable people to make the most of their abilities and take part as they choose to. We are now seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate Therapy Assistant to join our Juniper Community team to service clients in the Karrinyup and Dianella areas. In this role, you will assist in the delivery of high quality therapy services, sharing responsibility for the well being of aged care consumers and actively contributing to the development and implementation of programs which meet their physical, cognitive, social and emotional needs.

On offer is a permanent position working a minimum of 15 hours per week. We require someone who is available on Mondays and Wednesdays, with the possibility of picking up a third day during the week. As this is a community based role, you need to have a valid WA Drivers Licence and be comfortable with driving in the Perth metro area.

 Key Responsibilities of this role:

  • Assist residents and aged care consumers with group and individual activity programs designed to stimulate cognitive ability
  • Contributes to the evaluation of care plans
  • Actively contribute to the development and implementation of innovative and balanced activity programs which meet the physical, cognitive, social and emotional needs of each individual.
  • Assists therapists in maintaining/improving functional independence
  • Completes therapy statistics on a daily basis
  • Provides feedback to therapists on the outcome of interventions

 The Skills, Knowledge and Experience required:

  • Completion of a Certificate III in Allied Health (Highly Regarded)
  • Experience in assisting both Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists
  • Experience working as a Therapy Assistant or Lifestyle Coordinator is desirable
  • Experience working in the Aged Care Industry, in either community or residential
  • Verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff, residents, consumers, families and service providers
