We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced Kitchen Hand to work at Juniper John Bryant. Located north of the Swan River in the suburb of Marangaroo, Juniper John Bryant has 42 dementia specific beds.

The purpose of this role is to provide assistance in preparing great meals for our residents. The duties of this role may vary depending upon the operational needs of the facility.

On offer for the successful candidate is a casual ad-hoc position, working a variety of shifts and hours to cover planned and unplanned leave.

 

Key Responsibilities of this role:

  • Provide cleaning services including vacuuming, emptying rubbish bins, dusting, wiping surfaces, maintaining the cleanliness of residents’ rooms, windows, toilets, bathrooms and communal areas
  • Preparing and presenting breakfast, serving of lunch and dinner
  • Provide kitchen hand services at our facility that include; preparation of food, modifying food texture, apportioning food accurately and serving food to residents
  • Attend to residents’ laundry including the washing of residents’ clothing according to manufacturers’ specifications
  • Ensuring bed linen is stripped, laundered and labelled correctly
  • Demonstrate a high level of respect for residents’ property and privacy
  • Safe use of equipment and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Adhere to Juniper's policies and procedures relating to Occupational Safety and Health

 

The Skills, Knowledge and Experience required:

  • Experience in a commercial cooking environment or aged care catering (desirable)
  • Experience in a commercial or domestic cleaning environment (desirable)
  • Experience in a commercial laundry environment (desirable)
  • An understanding of safe food handling practice and hygiene standards
  • Knowledge of relevant chemicals and safe handling practices and procedures
  • An understanding of infection control procedures 
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
