Position Summary

Learn to Swim Instructor

  • Salary: from $25.22 to $27.07 per hour (plus casual loading)

The City is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Swimming Instructors to teach at our award-winning Swim School. Shifts are on a school term basis and include mornings, afternoons and Saturdays.


Our programs include infants (parent/baby), preschoolers, school age and people with special needs.


We are seeking instructors to teach in our school age and special needs programs (Mondays to Fridays between 2:45/3:20pm and 5:55pm). In particular, we are seeking individuals available to work Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Experience in either area would be very much desired. Applicants must possess current Swim Teacher qualifications, including AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety, Resuscitation, National Police Clearance and a Working With Children Check. AUSTSWIM extension awards and a Senior First Aid Certificate or swim teaching experience in special needs would be desirable. 


Due to the requirements of this role, applicants must be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical assessment to determine their fitness to carry out the duties of this position (which includes a drug & alcohol test). Should you have any queries regarding the requirements of the position or the medical assessment required for this role, please do not hesitate to contact the City.
