Technical Officer - Irrigation

A unique opportunity currently exists to work as part of a professional Team within the City's Parks and Conservation Management Service Unit. This position is responsible for supervising the technical operation and maintenance of the City's irrigation infrastructure and the implementation of the annual irrigation capital works program. The successful applicant will have extensive knowledge in irrigation infrastructure operation and maintenance in a turf and horticultural environment, contract management and working within budget allocations.
The position requires an individual who can manage the City's ground water usage and licences and implement the City's Water Conservation Plan, as well as ensuring that the City's irrigation infrastructure is installed and maintained in accordance to relevant specifications and legislation.
To be successful in this role you must hold a minimum Certificate III in Horticulture and/ or Turf Management or Certificate IV in Irrigation. Experience in commercial irrigation systems operation and maintenance, and proven experience in development of irrigation specifications and irrigation schedules is also required. Demonstrated experience in the operation and maintenance of central control irrigation systems is highly desirable.
